This stunning walk which leads to the highest point in County Kilkenny includes forest tracks, country roads and hillside paths as it winds its way up to the top of Brandon Hill where you can enjoy panoramic 360 degree views.
Surround yourself in nature as you walk along the river Barrow on parts of the South Leinster Way, through Graiguenamanagh, Gorlough Wood, Ballinvarry Hill to reach the top of Brandon Hill. Also on your downward journey take note of the site of Freneys Well. The ‘well’ on the north side of Brandon Hill is named for James Freney, the 18th Century ‘Robin Hood’ of the southeast of Ireland. The location of his buried treasure on Brandon hill has been the material for many local legends.
