Kayaking & Canoeing
Pure Adventure offers full and half day Canoe & Kayak trips on the Rivers Barrow and Nore. Their main Canoe & Kayak trips are from their base in Graiguenamanagh, which is 30 minutes from Kilkenny city and an hour and a half from Dublin. These trips are designed to create fun for everyone whether you are an adventure adrenaline seeker or looking for a chilled getaway on the water taking in the sights and sounds of the Kilkenny countryside. No experience is necessary, Pure Adventure cater for all abilities and ages.
Getting Ready for the Water
They begin by getting you the right equipment, then they show you the ropes, instructing you on how to use the canoes or kayaks, then after a bit of getting used to the craft you hit the river! On the river trip they take in some white water, pushing the adrenaline level as much as you like or chilling out and taking in the view and wildlife. Your guide will give you some information on the local history, flora & fauna. Along the way your guide will also take photos to get those memorable shots from the day for you to take home!!
The Graiguenamanagh Loop
The most popular trip, the Graiguenamanagh Loop gives you a full experience of Kayaking or Canoeing taking in some stunning flatwater sections through the Wooded Barrow Valley. Take a step back in time to experience a ride in the 230 year old lock system and the thrill of paddling down the weirs and rapids of the Barrow.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Pure Adventure are the premier providers of Stand Up Paddle Boarding in the south east. They enjoy access to some of the most beautiful waterways in the country to get your first taste of SUP. This has taken the world by storm with more and more boards being spotted around the country and they are delighted to be able to offer it to visitors here in Kilkenny. Pure Adventure have developed their sessions over the years to give you the best experience possible.
Enjoying the River
The Stand Up Paddle Board sessions run daily during the summer (June – September) and on demand the rest of the year. Each session is 2 hours long and allows you time to get to grips with this amazing sport and enjoy the stunning surroundings of the Barrow valley. All equipment is supplied all you need to do is turn up and have a good time.
SUP is the perfect chilled activity for friends and a great way of escaping the city to enjoy the serenity of the countryside.
You can also take part in SUP skills courses and receive a certificate from the Canoeing Ireland Stand Up Paddle Board Awards.

- Foot Wear you don’t mind getting wet (Please avoid Flip Flops If Possible)

- A Snack and Drink (Small lunch if you booked a day trip)

- Medication e.g. Inhaler, Insulin, Tablets (If you need them)
- If you have your own wet suit feel free to bring it along.
