Mount Juliet Estate Golf club
Mount Juliet, unsurprisingly, takes our top spot as the number 1 golf course you MUST play in Kilkenny this summer. The club has been host to some of the biggest names in the golfing world including Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Christy O’Connor and the course designer Jack Nicklaus. Opening in 1991, Mount Juliet has held the WGC American Express Golf Championship in both 2002 and 2004, as well as hosting the Irish Open three times.
Mount Juliet is known for its immaculate and contoured fairways and greens, as well as being one of the longest courses in Ireland at 7,112 yards. A true parkland course with eight holes playing over water, playing Mount Juliet is an opportunity you can’t miss in Kilkenny this summer.

Coming in at our number 2 spot for golf courses you MUST play this summer in Kilkenny, is Kilkenny Golf Club. Measuring 6,500 yards in length, this par 71 is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland. Founded in 1891, five years before the Golf Union of Ireland (GUI) was set up, this is a classic parkland in nature.
Kilkenny Golf Club is always kept in excellent condition with fast and true rolling greens. While it’s known as a relatively short golf course, the difficulty is made up for with unsuspecting doglegs and sloping greens. Kilkenny Golf Club is renowned for welcoming non members and golfers of any standard, so we highly recommend playing this course if you’re in Kilkenny

Castlecomer Golf Club is regarded as one of Kilkenny’s biggest hidden gems. Members and local golfers would describe the course as a beautiful rolling parkland with mature trees lining the fairways. Measuring 6,563 yards in length, each hole on the Castlecomer golf course throws a different challenge and you and it won’t take long before you’ve used every club in your bag there. The club does a great job in constantly refurbishing and freshening up the course, so if you want your golf senses reawakened, Castlecomer Golf Club is a MUST play this summer in Kilkenny!
