Windgap, a small village in the South West of the County has unearthed hidden gems of such significance that they now reside in the National Museum collection. Visitors are guaranteed a unique and authentic experience and get to see some of the villages most historic treasure, including a high cross, grotto and tombs. Windgap also has new tow walks open for visitors.
Windgap Loop Walks: Two wonderful new walks are open in Windgap. Following in the footsteps of the impressive Killmacoliver walk in Tullahought are these two new unique walks, both starting at the lake in Windgap. Travel around the Bearna Brac loop and back to the village, with panoramic views to be seen in all directions.
The other shorter walk, navigates from the lake through the forest, around the perimeter of the GAA grounds, crosses the new link to the church yard, across the road and around the beautifully ornate Grotto, and then back through the village, finishing at the lake.
